Type Locality and Naming

Along the Beltau, Kuldyktau Mountains, Central Kyzylkum. Ya.B. Aysanov et al., 1984.

Synonym: Beltau Suite, Бельтауская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Gray and dark gray limestones, nodular with interlayers of platy, thinly horizontally layered siliceous rocks of dark gray color. Thickness up to 200m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The lower contact is tectonic

Upper contact

The upper one is conformable with the limestones of the Visean (Bashguzhymdy well area), in other places it is transgressively overlain by terrigenous deposits of the Taushan Fm or Kamystin Fm (Aysanov et al., 1984).

Regional extent

Central Kyzylkum, slightly in Kuldyktau, southeastern well, Bashguzhymdy and northwestern sovkhoz Jangeldy.

Fossils

In limestones, foraminifera - Endothyra cf. tuberculata Lip., E cf. latispiralis Lip., E. cf. parakosvensis Lip., Tournayella sp., Spiroplectammina sp., Auroria ferganensis Pojark., Archaesphaera minima Sul. and others of Tournaisian age.


Age 

It belongs to the Tournaisian stage of the Lower Carboniferous. Previously, Ya.B. Aysanov et al. (44) described them as Tournaisian stage deposits.
